Faultfinders by Joe Barnett

Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought!  Rom. 12:3

A significant portion of my time is spent working with words.  So, when I read, I notice mistakes in grammar and spelling.  “Caught it, didn’t you?”  My judgmental reaction is to frown when I spot composition errors.

You have an area of expertise and maybe critical of those less enlightened.  The more we know about something, the more judgmental we are about those who make mistakes that are obvious to us.

Here’s a little bouquet of aphorisms that will help me – and you, if you sense the need – to be less censorious and more self-aware.

Everyone I meet knows something I don’t.

Wisdom is being aware of how little I know.

Humility is appealing.  Pride is appalling.

Conceit is a strange disease – it makes everyone sick except the one who has it.

Those who think they know it all are annoying to those of us who know it all.

Velma Williams is still at home recovering from her recent eye surgery.  She sends her love to all.

Updated Directory!

We’ve updated the directory from the information you have provided.  Mikey has the printed copies here today.  Please see Mikey for your copy.  If you would like a digital copy for your computer, Mikey can send you one.

Thank You Note!

“I’m appreciative for each of you and thankful for all of your prayers, cards, and messages.  This surgery was rougher than expected with physical pain; however, all of your messages cheered me beyond words and warmed my heart.  I was rejoicing in God, praying, and receiving peace.  Your caring and faith is praiseworthy; I was thinking of you throughout, and am so grateful for each of you!

Philippians 4:4-16 was a favorite during this recovery to keep me centered and strong.  Thank you for sharing in my troubles and sending me your prayers and encouraging words.  I’m glad to be back with you in fellowship, celebrating and praising our Lord.”

Congratulations to our Bible Scholars!

Sandra Moeller does it again.  She teaches the Wednesday evening children’s class.  In October she began the study of 2nd Samuel.  Her grandchildren, Oliver and Molly, are her students.  Last weekend they traveled to San Angelo for the Bible Bowl.  Both won third place in their age group.  Oliver missed 3 out of 150 questions, while Molly missed 10.

Update from Mariana!

“Lord willing, I leave March 31st for Ireland, returning July 1st.

Everything seems to be going well for that to happen.  I will be depending on your prayers…and I know that happens!

I’m so grateful for your interest in what I love to do.  I have been preparing lessons to share with my ladies’ class and I’m excited to soon be with them.  We will begin with the book of Ephesians, then see where the Lord takes us.

Again…thanks for your support.  It helps relieve my concerns and make my travels easier.  You are fantastic!!!”

Love to all,  Mariana
