Transitions by Joe Barnett

Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:6

The third chapter of Ecclesiastes opens with fourteen couplets, declaring that life consists of seasons and that each season has its opposite: joy to sadness and vice versa, etc.

Let’s get this out of the way up-front: change is inevitable!

Transitions are tough:
From Homecoming Queen to divorced mother of three.
From big fish to unknown and unwanted.
From happily married to sorrowfully widowed.
From cared-for to a caregiver.
Circumstances and roles change. But God doesn’t.

My friend, Allen Isbell, has a coffee mug with the inscription:                                          “When all else fails, call Dad.”                                                                                                               God is always available to help with the heavy lifting.

He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8).
“O Thou who changest not, abide with me.” Henry Lyte

Time heals most hurts. Give time, time.

Notice!
In the light of the latest church shootings around the country,                                               it has been decided that the front doors will be locked 10 minutes after services. This applies to both Wednesday and Sunday services.                                                 Someone will be present at the door to unlock it for latecomers.                                         This is for everyone’s safety and peace of mind.

Young Professionals Group!
The Broadway Young Professionals group is looking to grow. For those interested in Bible studies, hangouts, and growing the church please join the chat group on Band (it’s an app). For any questions, please see Linda Stevens. God Bless and Happy New Year!

Updated Directory!
We need your help! Please complete your information on one of the several sheets on the tables at the back of the auditorium. This includes all names of members of your household, street and mailing addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses. This information will be compiled into an updated church directory. Both paper and electronic copies will be available. Please complete these sheets ASAP! Thanks

Celebrating a Namesake!
Our “part-time members”, Don, Helen, and Micah Bryan were in services last Sunday. They come frequently to Galveston but were here for a special day. The Bryan Museum sent a special invitation to anyone with the surname “Bryan” to visit the museum last Sunday afternoon for a VIP event. Who wouldn’t attend that kind of invitation???

Marie and Bill Nunnally have two high-back bar stools that they are offering to anyone with that need. See Marie if interested.
Chris Garvin is helping Impact Church on Wednesday night in Houston. He has graduated from serving food; he is now teaching a class!
