Life in Three Chapters by Joe Barnett

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. – Ecclesiastes 3:1

Life has three chapters: Past; Present; Future.

Past: Life is short. The Bible describes life as a puff of smoke that appears briefly and then vanishes, a fleeting shadow, a passing breeze. You don’t need those reminders; you know it from experience: the body slows down, but life speeds up—every year going by faster than the last one. Our years “pass quickly” (Psalm 90:10).

Future: Life is uncertain. We don’t know what is going to happen in the next hour, much less next week, next month, or next year. The adjective “unexpected” could precede most events in our future: an unexpected illness, defeat, sorrow; an unexpected blessing, achievement, joy.

Present: Life is challenging. Sometimes the challenges are exhilarating, sometimes depressing. But packed with possibilities: opportunities to accomplish, adapt, grow.

This day is a once-in-a-lifetime gift.

Keep in Prayers!
B.J. Henderson continues to recover.
Kenneth Zimmerman is recovering at home and reports that he is doing better. He appreciates your prayers.

Jim Gowdy passed away last Sunday. The memorial service was held at Broadway on Saturday. Joe Knox, Larry Smith, Colin Adams and Allen Isbell conducted the service. Jim attended Broadway with Dean Knox until his health issues prevented him from doing so. We extend our sympathy to his wife, Martha, and his daughters, Julia and Diana. Keep this family in your prayers.

Thank You!
A great big thank you to Velma Williams and the Ladies Class for arranging, providing and serving the dinner following the Gowdy service yesterday.
Also, to those that participated and arranged for the service.

New Mexico Christian Children’s Home!

Jason and Natalie Freed, former members, are travelling to the Houston-Galveston area in mid-December to collect donations from several congregations. Broadway has agreed to participate.
The Children’s Home has a special need for canned goods and other non-perishable foods, along with cleaning supplies and paper goods.
The Tuesday Ladies Class has agreed to be in charge and coordinate this collection. Items should be taken to the classroom where the ladies meet and placed upon the tables.
We encourage everyone to participate in this worthy endeavor.
