On Your Way to Life Forever by Joe Barnett

Because I live, you also will live. John 14:19

I recently presided at the memorial service for a dear friend who had battled cancer for six years. In a post to family and friends, he wrote, “I have zero fear of death.”

Jesus altered the mental landscape for those who are his – by dying and rising; he set us free from fear. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me” (Psalm 23:4).

Death is the great equalizer, in that it treats everyone the same: “Each person is destined to die once” (Hebrews 9:27). Die we must; but not alone, not in fear, and not forever.

“Because I live,” he promised, “you also will live.” And that life is forever.

Live for the day when God will wipe away every tear and take away every fear.

Lone Star Biker Rally!
For those new to the Island, November brings the Annual Lone Star Biker Rally. The official dates this year are October 31st-November 3rd. Last year 500,000 attended. This year attendance is estimated to be less. Anticipate heavy traffic, especially the Seawall, Broadway, and the Strand area.                                                   This event has a significant economic impact on our city.

Any inconvenience we experience is more than offset by the benefit to our local economy.                                                                                                                                                  So…plan accordingly and welcome our guests. We usually have several bikers in our assembly.
