Talking to Yourself by Joe Barnett
He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.
Do you talk to yourself? Me too. When I’m writing these devotionals, I often think out loud. Sometimes when I’m dressing, I talk to myself about which shirt goes with which pants. Sometimes someone says something that rubs me the wrong way. Later, when I’m alone, I come up with some snappy “snippy?” comeback – too late to spout, which is fortunate.
Here are a few phrases from Psalms that enrich my day when I say them out loud:
“Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (27:14).
“This is the day the Lord has made; rejoice and be glad in it” (117:24).
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good” (118:1).
“May your unfailing love be my comfort” (119:76).
A new day offers a new beginning.

Keep in Prayers!
B.J. Henderson: B.J. has been in UTMB for a light stroke, but is at home now and doing better.
Brian McLaughlin’s mother is in hospice in Florida. His brother, Gary, is in CCU in Massachusetts. He and Carla plan to fly to Florida on Sunday. They may also go to Massachusetts. Please keep this family in your prayers.
Broadway, you did it again! We estimate that around one to two hundred coats and sweaters were donated to the Spring Branch Church of Christ Coat Drive. One of their members came Wednesday to take them to Houston. The entire back of his SUV was full. Their distribution will be this Saturday, as well as the next. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You may have noticed something new in front of you! We now have new songbooks in the rack before you. Thanks to an anonymous donor who helped pay for them, we now have only one songbook that are all the same edition. No more different words on the same songs!
Our previous songbooks were donated after IKE from a church in San Antonio. They have served us well. We continue this benevolence by donating most of them to another church. They are using three different song books, which makes it challenging for the song leader!!
As you may have noticed, we had two colors – maroon and blue. The blue ones are being donated; the maroon ones are available for those of us who wish to take one home. They are on tables at the back of the auditorium, so please take one if you wish. (Please, do not take the new ones from the pews!! They are the same color maroon!)
