Contentment Killer Number One: Greed
By Joe Barnett
The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. I Tim. 6:10
“People who want to be rich fall into all sorts of temptations and traps. They are caught by foolish and harmful desires that drag them down and destroy them. The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. Some people want money so much that they have given up their faith and caused themselves a lot of pain” (1st Timothy 6:9-10).
Love of money is a one-way street – money doesn’t love us back. The one thing it’s right at is relentlessly intensifying our desire for more of it.
Hebrews 13:5 advises us to do two things that most of us aren’t good at: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have” (Hebrews 13:5).
Try real hard.
Love of money is a narcotic that anesthetizes conscience.

Letter from Pam Reeves!
We recently received the following letter:
“Dear Church Family,
I have missed getting to attend Broadway most of this year, but truly appreciate the prayers for my surgery and the beautiful card from the Ladies Bible School Class. I am doing so much better and hope to be able to come back soon!!
Again, thanks all for your prayers,
Our Guest Song Leader!
Pat and Jim Deloney are visiting this morning. We call on him to lead our singing when they are present. After serving as a local minister for many years in Houston, and Pat running a school program, Jim has served on staff for the Impact Church of Christ in Houston. You may have seen their son, Doug, who runs Channel 11’s morning programs. At times, he fills in by giving the rush hour traffic report. Jim and Pat have been our friends for many years. He helped us greatly after the disaster of Hurricane Ike.
