A Widow’s Mite by Joe Barnett

(She) put in all she had to live on. – Luke 21:4

Jesus spotted her on his last visit to the temple; saw her drop a couple of coppers – the smallest coinage in circulation – into the temple treasury.

Comparing her gift with the gifts of the rich, he said, “This poor widow has put in more than all the others…[It was] all she had to live on” (Luke 21:1-4).

My Bible reading schedule put that story in front of me early Sunday morning. A few hours later I was joining my brothers and sisters in song…

Take my life, and let it be Consecrated, Lord to Thee.

Then this:

Take my silver and my gold:

Not a mite would I withhold.

Whoa!  Can I truthfully say that?  Those words and that widow remain in my mind.

Are you paying attention to what you say when you sing?

 Vacation Bible School Report!

VBS has come and gone.  We averaged 10 each night.  In addition, there were 19 who came from North Texas Church of Christ who planned, organized and taught the classes.  Special thanks to Tim and Darla Lewis who were in charge of arranging with the group.  One of the chaperones, Jerry, brought the message to the Wednesday night class.  The inside of the church building was transformed into a circus environment.   Fun and fellowship were had by all!

Broadway gives a great big Texas Thank You to the North Texas Church of Christ whose efforts made this possible.  We hope for an encore for next year.

Thanks to TAMUG!

Hope you enjoy all the flowers that adorn the auditorium this morning.  Thanks to Texas A&M University at Galveston for our flowers today.  Our own Dr. Joe Knox brought them from the graduation that took place Saturday morning.  When he asked for some, he was told to take them all!!

It was good to have Colin Adams back in our services last Sunday leading our singing.  Several of the Adams cousins were here visiting Dakota and Sierra.  They really helped the attendance at VBS!

It was also good to see Daniel Boorman and his friend, Bailey, in services last Sunday.  Daniel graduated from TAMUG in the spring.

Dean Knox has had family visiting this past week.  Bill (son) and Eva (his wife) were here for a few days.  Now son, John, is visiting for the weekend.  Know this makes Dean happy!
