You Gotta Put in the Work by Joe Barnett
Do not neglect your gift. 1st Timothy 4:14
It takes years of hard work to become an “overnight sensation”. Unless you practice long and work hard, you’ll never be one.
Hall of Famer Bill Bradley repeatedly reminded himself, “when you are not practicing, remember, someone somewhere is practicing, and when you meet him, he will win.”
Bradley became a Rhodes Scholar, an NBA All-Star, a key player in two NBA Championships with the New York Knicks, and a three-term U.S. Senator. Dedication will take you places.
Natural ability will only take you so far. To become really good at anything you have to practice and repeat, practice and repeat, practice and repeat.
You don’t grow professionally without putting in the work.
Nor do you grow spiritually without putting in the work.
You don’t learn before you do.
You learn by doing.

Update from Mariana!
This has been an incredible six weeks! I’ve met with the church family every possible time. I was able to host two guests from my Come Before Winter team. I was able to keep the LCU Chorus Director, in my home. They brought thirty-three LCU students who were graciously kept in all our members’ homes. Their performances were truly amazing and enjoyed by many of the Irish audiences. Jesus was preached! And heard!
Each week, the women come to my home in Castlerock and we study together. I was also invited to teach a class at one of the churches in Belfast. It’s been rich with shared ideas and understandings.
Almost every day, someone has been here for tea. I feel this year to have been truly accepted as part of this wee village. God has touched my life with their lives and I’m richer because of it. I trust that I have been a useful tool for Him.
Thank you for your partnership in this journey! I hope some of you have followed my postings on Facebook and Instagram. It has been my way to “journal” my time here.
This week, I leave on a plane headed back to Abilene, TEXAS! My, has time passed quickly.
I leave you with this Irish blessing:
“May the roads rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall softly upon your fields and until we meet again may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.”
Love to all, Mariana
