Faith is the Victory by Joe Barnett
This is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.
1st John 5:4
Jesus didn’t praise people for their educational achievement, their stage skills, their musical mastery, their athletic ability, or their business brilliance.
But he did praise people for their faith. “I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith,” he said of a Gentile centurion (Mt. 15:28). “Your faith has saved you; go in peace,” he said to a woman whose sins were well known (Lk. 7:50).
When his disciples’ faith faltered, he was disappointed. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt” (Mt. 14:31). Even so, credit them with a desire to grow: “Lord, increase our faith,” they prayed.
That’s a prayer we would do well to repeat, for “without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Heb. 11:6).
Develop faith worthy of his praise.

Keep in Prayers!
Margaret Winters had more procedures done at UTMB this week and is still hospitalized. The earliest release from the hospital may be Monday.
Duncan Pharis’ favorite uncle, Jim Newman, passed away this past week. Duncan left Friday to attend the service. He will not be here today.
“For anyone troubled by past experiences, know that it is possible to move to a future that is brighter and more promising than you’ve ever imagined. 2nd Corinthians 5:17 tells us “if any person is in Christ he/she is a New creation; the old has passed away. The fresh and New has come!”
Galveston Historic Homes Tour!
This is the second weekend of the Annual Galveston Historic Homes Tour. We welcome many visitors to the Island. Galveston is a treasure trove of historic homes. Enjoy the tour! There is still time to tour some of the houses this afternoon.
Broadway Members Volunteer!
Joan Mertens has volunteers to help in the annual Homes Tour. She recruits a great crew to help in this important civic event. Broadway members who helped were Sara Campbell, Wendy Clayton, Jan Pearsall-Thomas, Suzanne Druss, John and Inez Jones.
Rain, Rain – A Mixed Blessing!
Galveston experienced some heavy rain this past week. It was a welcome sight. However, Houston areas were not as fortunate as the Island, as many people had flooded houses and cars. Shades of Harvey again! We pray for those whose life was disrupted and wish them a speedy recovery.
A Special Weekend!
Daniel Boorman all smiles today! His parents, Warren and Diane Boorman, plus his aunt and other relatives are here to celebrate his graduation from Texas A & M Galveston. We are happy to have them with us today, plus Daniel is leading our song service. An excellent way to end the graduation weekend!
