Don’t Drop The Baton by Joe Barnett
We will tell the next generation. Psalm 78:4
Abilene Christian College’s track relay team – Bobby Morrow, Bill Woodhouse, James Segrest, and Waymond Griggs – set world records in 1957 and 1958. The moment the baton was passed from one runner to the next always had me on the edge of my seat, it only takes one botched pass to lose a race. We are in a relay race of monumental importance: passing the baton of the faith from one generation to the next.
“Do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them” (Deuteronomy 4:9). If our generation flubs the pass or if the next generation fumbles it…
Givers and receivers are equally responsible.

Mikey and I feel an inexpressible gratitude for your love and acceptance the past 42 years as “the interim minister”. What began as a six month commitment in March, 1977 continues.
The ladies of the church worked so hard on the church dinner last Sunday, and were generous in their gifts to us. We appreciate that members from the 55th and K congregation as well the Westward Street congregation in LaMarque attended.
We also thank Brother and Sister Hoffman; he serves as minister for the 55th and K church. A special recognition is made to the CDM Island Caterers who provided an outstanding lunch.

News from Mariana Long!
Mariana departs April 24 for Coleraine, Northern Ireland. June 5th is her return date. Two of her Come Before Winter teammates will join her in May. Also the Lubbock Christian Chorus will take 33 students to encourage the church and perform in various other places. Keep this group in your prayers. Valdy Eichmann will be in Arkansas for 3 weeks.
Often the cause of our anxiety is:
1) disbelief that God forgives our sins when we confess.
2) disbelief that God will meet our needs when we pray.
Antidote: Belief in God’s Word, that He loves us.
Text: Philippians 4:6: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God.
The Isabell’s have as their guest, Jim Berry, a former member of Broadway.
Sara and Trey Mills are spending Sundays with their parents who are not in good health. They hope to return to Broadway soon.
It was good to see Lydia and Gilbert Alderete in services last Sunday. They are presently staying in San Antonio with their grandchildren. They got off for Spring Break! They hope to be back come summer.
A Special Love Offering
One of Jean Nichols final requests before she passed away on March 4 was to have her son Chris send her March contribution to Broadway. We received this in the mail last week. What an example of a true Christian lady. We already miss her sweet spirit!
