Be Gentle by Joe Barnett

Let your gentleness be evident to all. Philippians 4:5

Burton Coffman’s cancer was detected early, treated successfully, and he was cancer-free.
Years later, nearing his 100th birthday, and not feeling well, Burton underwent a battery of tests, then asked his doctor, “Is cancer back?” “Yes,” he said, “but I would not worry about it.” Burton retorted, “I wouldn’t worry about it either if you were the one with cancer.”
The good doctor’s intention was to inform Burton that at his age something else would take him before cancer did. He aimed at his brain but missed his heart.
Off-the-cuff comments often miss the heart and hurt, the fear and foreboding.
People with real problems and every person’s problems are real to them, don’t want pre-packaged, one-size-fits-all, solutions. They want to know that you understand, and care.

People don’t care how much you know
until they know how much you care.

Farewell, Judi!
Judi Littmann, a former member, has been with us for the last two months. Sunday was her last with us. We have the following note from Judi: “I have loved being with you. I’m on the road to Florida, then Maine. See you, Lord, willing, in November.” We wish the best for Judi in her travels.

Note from Sonny!
“Hope everything is well at the church. Tell everyone hello and tell all the ladies at their meeting ‘hello’! Love you all, Sonny” Note: Although Sonny has been unable to attend Broadway for over a year, he faithfully sends his monthly contribution. His dedication and love for this group of Christians is inspiring.

Thank You, Armando!
Although the weather has been less than desirable, Armando was seen mowing and edging the church lawn. Thanks from all of us.

Life is a Gift by Joe Barnett

He gives to all life, breath, and all things. Acts 17:25

I believe that life is a gift from God.
I believe that there is a God-designed reason you and I were born.
I believe that God gives us the freedom to live this life as we choose, but that our status is stewardship, not ownership.
I believe that our talents and abilities are gifts from God and that we are responsible for their cultivation and use.
I believe that we only get one earthly life, therefore only one chance to thank him for this incredible gift by using it to serve and glorify him.
I believe that we start breathing at one end of life and stop at the other, and that what we do in-between measures how we value the gift.

Your potential is one thing;
what you do with it is quite another.

Mission News from Mariana!
As I make plans for Northern Ireland, once again I’m made aware of my partnership with Broadway. You have not only purposed and given towards my mission, but for others as well. You take seriously Matthew 28 as you help others “Go”. It is a privilege to say “Thank You” for those who cannot tell you themselves. May your plans and mine for encouraging and teaching be fulfilled as the Lord plans with us. Thank you, Mariana

Note: We received a $5,000 donation to be applied towards Mariana Long’s mission to Northern Ireland last week. We are glad to have others participating with us in Mariana’s ministry.

Kylie Garvin was listed in the Daily News in the list of all A’s in third grade at Parker School. Good job, Kylie!

Sierra and Dakota Adams were in the Shrek musical the past two weekends. It was a production of the Galveston Independent School District.
